Truth be told, neither I, nor anyone I know has any clue what exactly the proper definition of 'meme' is. We've assumed it originates from mem's (like adding something to your lj memories), but why it's used it this context, we're not sure!
Wiki defines an internet meme as a term used to describe a concept that spreads swiftly via the Internet. I've used the term so much, but I never knew how to define it until now. XD
Oh my gosh, me too! I was just having this discussion the other day, like, we use 'meme' in fandom at least once a day, I'm sure, yet no one ever seems to know what exactly it is! haha. Thanks for the info!
