Through the veil of smoke slowing curling up from his cigarette in the ashtray, he shot her a quick, grateful look. "Yeah."

ZOMG. I LOVE THIS STORY.

The period details are so effing perfect and alluring! I can't resist. Also, I'm a sucker for my city, and I loe how much attention you pay to it. I'm so ever tempted to write another version of the California AU.

We just love chasing those details, until we can't find one like when cars started using ignition keys.

But it's so fun to decide where Bill and Laura would dine! The Cliff House was too far out of town, and The House of Shields too dive bar. Sam's it is! I'm so going to have them go to Spenger's at some point. I swear Nick and Nora go there in one of their movies. "I'll have the sea bass!"

Anything that spurs more writing is for the win! :D
