And so we bought us a townhouse in Union, New Jersey, just 15 miles away from New York.  I've got a relatively easy commute and we've got a nice little house of our own ( Read more... )

*hugs* Moving completely sucks!

Did you hear anything about the movers that dumped you? Did they ever call and at least ask where you were so you could chew them out?

The movers called the NEXT day, just slightly before lunch. They called my husband, and boy, did he give them something to think about. I didn't hear him on the phone, and he's hardly ever one to give the really meaty details, but I've personally seen him do his "displeased customer" thing then hear him tell someone else about it. He strips the details down to its barest essentials, so I know that what he tells is a tenth of what actually happened. Hearing him tell me about his phone conversation with Wonder Movers (the irony in their company name is astouding. "I wonder where they are?") had me smirking with evil glee.

Good! And hopefully enough word of mouth will eventually get around about them to effect their business.

Congrats on your new house!

You definitely deserve a patience award or something. When I was moving into my house I had more than a few moments where I wanted say f*ck it and just buy new stuff.

But now that's over, it must feel good to be able to relax. Least now I hope you can relax.

**I hope you chewed out those movers, too, btw. Wankers.

I'm just glad it's over and done with. There's a slight change in my commute, but that's fine. I'll live. Now all we have to do is make the moving boxes go away. Lol.

Hubby chewed out the movers. With a serated knife and steak sauce. Lol.

Eeeeek. Your head hasn't exploded? I'm impressed.

I'd swear, me and everyone on livejournal I know seems to be having a FUBAR-tastic past few days. I wonder if everyone is cursed. Or something.

Congrats on the purchase!

And a round of applause for surviving the day.

You should get a certificate.

...continue driving like an old lady - thats the best way to go...yeah right

*snicker*

though I'm like WTH?! The people asked for a tip?! They ASKED for a tip? hmmmm, interesting.

I'd probably offer a decent tip IF they didn't ask for it. If they DO ask, then I say NO. Seriously.

wow

hahahha, very entertaining update.

Yep, they asked for a tip, but I suppose I don't really feel too badly about that. I still saved a bunch on moving costs, and the energy of lifting heavy furniture and boxes. ^_^

This morning, I went to work ahead of hubby and on my way to the train, my hubby calls me, complaining that I had completely messed up the packing of the shoes, and that he couldn't find what he wanted to wear. At first, I was like, "Well, I'm here, you're there. I couldn't really help you out, you know." But he kept whingeing, so I pretend that I couldn't hear him over the static. I said, "Wait a second. I can't hear you." I pressed "end" on my phone and didn't call him back. I swear. What a spoild brat. He calls me up later better behaved.

oh yeah - glad you saved money too. Its always a good feeling to be able to keep the money that has been set aside for those things.

Moving is always the absolute worst!!! Congrats on your new home tho. That itself is the best accomplishment. You can make your own nest exactly the way you want it. Cat-Dog will enjoy it too, no doubt.

Cat-Dog was stressed by the move because I had to keep him in his carrier, but he's fine. He's running around the house, sniffing everything and rubbing himself on things. I think he was pleased that the couch smells like him (we brought the old one) and that he's got loads of stuff to climb. ^_^
