I am so intrigued by the fic that you decided to remix. I was playing a guessing game as I was writing, hoping to pinpoint possible options that my remixer would select, and I am delighted that I had not anticipated this one. :D

I really love the context that you have created for the chain of events, as well I really love how you pick up where the original left off and continued it. The cancer reveal at the end hit me like a ton of bricks, and on my second read through it made the chain of events that much more meaningful for Laura. That reckless abandon also reminded me of her behaviour in ADFMS when she adopts a sort of defeatist, but live for the day attitude.

Also, I was lovely to read Bill and Carolanne at their happiest, as much as I feel she wasn't the best partner for him, I still want them to have had some good times before things got bad.

Thanks for playing along and remixing my fic! :D Well done!

I had so much fun going through your fic trying to figure out what I was going to do! I'd read something, get some ideas, then read some more, get more ideas ... and then I found this particular little fic ... and here you go.

I am so glad you enjoyed the context I made based on what you'd written--this is the first time I've ever done a remix, and I wasn't sure how that might be taken--so I'm very relieved!

The cancer reveal at the end hit me like a ton of bricks

Yes! You know me--there almost always has to be angst in anything I write, LOL.

I do like to believe that Bill and Carolanne had some good times. I've been writing something far angstier for the two of them for quite some time now, and this allowed me to just let them have some ... err ... interesting fun. :D It really was fascinating to think about how such a tape might have been made!

I had a blast with this and I'm just thrilled to know that you liked it.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

(I just couldn't see Adama ever looking at that tape in the context of this story, especially once he knew the circumstances of its creation.)

FABULOUS

Oh my god. So frakking hot, and so heartbreaking by the end. ARGH. This is really fabulous. And getting one of the good times between Carolanne and Bill was an unexpectedly sweet surprise.

I love this so much. I want to pull lines but I can't get past "Guh/BAWW" right now.

Heeee! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It was a heck of a lot of fun creating a good time between Adama and Carolanne. There had to be something there at one time, right?

I want to pull lines but I can't get past "Guh/BAWW" right now.

Oh, that's plenty! :D :D :D

Thanks so much for reading and commenting and for all your work with the remix!

Ooof.

That's the sound of me falling over, first from the hotness (wow, even the CA/Bill part was hot. Nicely done!), then from the crushing ending.

I thought it was really interesting how Laura is kind of the bad actor here, even as Bill's the one that acts out. I feel that most really good angst stems from an imbalance in communication of affection, and it can be done well from either way (love-stingy, distant Laura or I-let-you-get-too-close Bill). This is a nice take on the former, with Laura being more casual about her feelings for Bill (always excusing herself after he tells her he loves her? ouch!)

The idea of Bill having that video after she's gone is so painful that I'm kind of glad he did himself a favor and deleted it.

I'm so glad you thought it was hot--especially that you thought even Adama and Carolanne were hot! I love knowing that the whole thing together made you fall over. ;)

Your thoughts on their whole dynamic are so interesting to read--and it's always so much fun and so interesting to play with exactly that imbalance in communication of affection.

The idea of Bill having that video after she's gone is so painful that I'm kind of glad he did himself a favor and deleted it.

Yes. Once the tape existed, I couldn't bear the thought of its existence for him. I couldn't see that he'd ever look at it (ugh, the pain!) or want any risk of anyone else ever finding it. Having him erase it was also probably the trickiest part of writing this. larsfarm77 really helped me out there, and I hope I ended with the correct tone with that particular part.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting! :D

Just the hottest sex he and Carolanne had ever had … captured on tape for all eternity. Gods. It had even survived the end of the worlds.

Hell yeah. Bill/Carolanne is so frakking hot, I can't even, and then to find Laura where she is ....

...

...

Yeah ... that needs recovery time, lol.

I love how you turned this ... there are these tiny clues that it's something more than just a post-orgasmic high going on with Laura ... and my heart just dropped when Bill accidentally drank her tea.

"Bill, I'm tired," she answered, evading his question. "This wasn't how I'd planned to tell you."

This killed me. Of course it wasn't, and his reaction is still cutting and painful and I feel so much for them both. I love that little moment where he helps Laura with her slip -- it's just enough for me to know that things will eventually be all right. Like afrakaday, I feel better that he won't have this particular reminder. Amazing stuff.

My favorite part of this comment is the necessary recovery time! :D

I had such a blast planting those tiny clues while trying not to make them too obvious.

I love that little moment where he helps Laura with her slip -- it's just enough for me to know that things will eventually be all right.

I love that you caught that moment. By now, they're so familiar with each other, I can see that there would be anger, and yet, there's such a depth to the relationship, that it wouldn't be this horrible end for them at this point, either.

Thanks for all your help with this and with getting the tone of the erasing of the tape right. I appreciate it so much!
