Retro Thursday: Roslin and Adama Theme

Feb 09, 2012 08:46

One of the most memorable pieces of music from the show, 'Roslin and Adama' will always have a special place in shippers' hearts. I remember it absolutely gutting me in RSII, watching Billy slowing lead Roslin to her quarters. I was sure we were going to lose her then.

I loved reading how Bear McCreary felt about this song back after The Hub ( Read more... )

I KNOW, RIGHT? I remember just melting over the fact that they had a song when the season 2 soundtrack first came out. It gave me hope that we might get more shippiness! I love that Bear is just as much a fanboy of them as a lot of us!

They were ALL huge fanboys. RDM was a total A/R shipper and I LUUUUURVE it, hehe.

Totally! I was always so mad at David Eick in the podcasts for talking over RDM when he was about to get all shippy, LOL. I love watching RSII with RDM's commentary on -- it was what got me to see if anyone else liked this older couple!

So gorgeous. I can never decide which version I prefer - the normal one or the 'reunited' version.

What other songs make you immediately think of A/R?

Are we talking other Bear McCreary pieces? I'm not sure any others make me think specifically of them as a couple, but some make me think of them as individuals.

Outside of BSG music, there's lots, mostly because of awesome fanvids I've seen. I'll have to go check my iPod for a list.

I don't think I could decide either. The version played in RSII really resonates with me, because of all the emotion I was feeling in that scene.

Yes, any songs at all! Feel free to post the vids if you want, too :)

I agree that there isn't really anything else on the soundtrack.

As requested, boss ;)

The first one is my favourite A/R vid ever, I think.

Some of my fave A/R vids:

The audio has been disabled on this final one, but youtube "This Year's Love" by David Gray and start listening to it at the same time that you start watching this video. It's stunning.

'Falling Slowly' is one of my favourites, ever!

I'm in "put myself back together mode" from the first few vids I watched, but I'll definitely be back to watch all of these!

I love this song! I particularly like when it's played during the phone scene in the beginning of "Crossroads Part II."

A song that always makes me think of A/R is Katatonia's "In the White."

Oooh, what does the bottom of your icon say ?? I can't read the fine print, and I have to know!

Thanks for leaving song here as I wouldn't have known what it was -- it's beautiful with such a melancholy undertone that works so well with the show.

My icon says: Negotiation: It's all about the see-through blouse, people. I stole it from one of the motivational posters on Rememberlaura.

I'm glad you liked the song. I've been pimping Katatonia for years.

We used the Roslin and Adama theme in our wedding, which I had been waffling about suggesting before my husband brought it up. Best text message ever. Worst video compression ever.

Some of my favorites:

(^This video had an amazing concept and I'd never heard the song before...five minutes later, it was my new favorite song.)

(^This is technically a Laura video, but whatever, it's awesome.)

I love that you used it for your wedding -- I'm tearing up like an idiot over here just watching the little clip. What a lovely choice. It's amazing how much emotion is tied up in that one song.

I need to check out these other vids when I'm less of a basket case. Thanks for posting them!

Ok, done work for the day, so checking these out:

The first one, amazing .. how much fun was it that other roles were used.

The second one: blew me away, just really, really beautifully done with the dialogue over the vid and how the vid was put together. Just gorgeous.

And the last one made my cry. I knew who had made it from the diaper line, but I'd never seen it. Amazing, especially that little montage at the end.

Thanks for these! *goes in search of tissues*
