Sunday Night.

Today wasn't too bad. I had planned on cleaning the arena and doing some raking to get footing back on the outside track, but after I took a nap I hoped out. lol

You ever not want to do something active because you feel really clean and don't want to take another shower? yeah.

Did you know that it's possible to get too much ginger in something ( Read more... )

This reminded me of my lesson on Thursday. Reuben was oddly spooky at the doors, as if there was something outside he was nervous about. Trainer Jackie had me work on things that we weren't used to in order to get his attention. At one point Reuben did a big spinning spook at the end door, and I saw a guy on a mountain of footing setting up a sprinkler. They had gotten a load of new footing and the guy was watering it before they spread it in the arena. Reuben saw the mountain and I didn't notice. Sheesh! Once we realized that's what was bothering him we did a few more "square corner" exercises and called it a day before the Monstrous Killer Footing Mound upset him again. Ending on a good note!

Funny how, even at 28, baby approaches work.

Your church group sounds great. I'm sure you look forward to your Sunday evening meetings.

They are so aware of things. At the place we have schooling shows they usually keep the doors near C closed, but Zolar will look out the crack at all the horses outside. Stop it! lol

Thanks.

I totally get not wanting to go back if the choir isn't singing. It just feels completely wrong. I just (last week) went back to singing with the choir on Sunday mornings. We're spread out in the choir loft (19-12 people) and we wear masks the entire service, so I feel relatively safe. For our rehearsals, we have 8-10 people (plus the director and pianist) in the choir room and the rest of us are doing rehearsal via Zoom. It's not perfect, but it's definitely better than nothing.

We're doing all of our handbell rehearsals via Zoom, and we're doing pre-recorded virtual performances through December.

how does that work with the lag? We tried having someone singing along with our organist (both of them dialed in) and it was painful because Zoom didn't know who to listen to.

We now have an assigned role called the "respondent" who says all the stuff that would normally be "all"

I wonder what time of year they even film the Halloween War shows (do the shows even acknowledge social distancing, for instance?). My SIL was on Chopped years ago, and they aired the episode almost six months after it was taped.

Are you seeing Covid cases, or just allergies and colds and such? I feel like if they do reopen here it's going to be such a cluster because one little sniffle or cough and they're going to quarantine an entire classroom. Meanwhile, 2 years ago, 28% of our school was out with influenza *at the same time* and they didn't close down.

Not sure.
Wow, go SIL. 6 months sounds awfully long. But maybe it has to do with when they can get all the judges together? Did she have to keep quiet about it in the meantime?

About 75% allergy or allergy related. Only one or two positive covid. Talking to people who have to quarantine because of exposure (without mask is mandatory 14 days even with a negative test).
I think the schools are pretty much only sending home the one kid, then if positive, they *may* send the one next to it if they're not good with masking.
Currently we're not seeing anywhere near the kids as we were when flu was so bad the schools were shutting down.

Yeah, when she was on, she was able to take one "support person" and both of them had to sign a document that said they wouldn't tell about the results or they could be sued for like $50K. So like, she had a watch party and couldn't tell the people that she didn't even make it to the dessert round. My understanding is that the winner didn't even get her prize until after the episode had aired. And I've heard the same thing is true if you're on Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune or other game shows. Though it seems like with a studio audience it would be really hard to have everyone keep a secret.

Honestly, even when she was in the casting phase, she wasn't supposed to be talking about it. Her episode had started as a charity episode, but then they had to find two people playing for keeps to round out the cast.

Do you have real Covid cases as well or are the kiddos only sniffling?

Just curious because I read that at the moment 50,000 (!) kids in Germany are in quarantine.

Only a few we've diagnosed, but a few a day we have to talk to about quarantine.

50,000!!!?!? Dang. Does that include college, because we've had a lot of trouble here with college kids being stupid.

We don't have college here - it's still part of "high school".
So I think yes, it includes kids aged 16-18.

I have a love/hate relationship with Halloween Wars. I love watching them create their pieces and some of them are really cool, but I hate the manufactured drama and I disagree with the judging quite often.

YEah, the drama is a little lame. I just try to ignore it. Not sure about the judging. I do like the crazy host.
