Since I took the inquirer's class in 2010, I've really felt comfortable and close to it. Especially since I found out our history starts in Britain with clans. Our rectors put historical ( Read more... )

Cool. The funny thing was that a few days before I was thinking about wanting a class, and 'poof' there it was.

Good luck! It sounds fascinating. :)
I often think it'd be neat to take RCIA classes since, as a cradle Catholic, I'm curious to see the perspective of those coming into the church vs those of us who grew up in the church.
But, as you say, it takes a lot of time.

RCIA is the 2? year class that new concerts have to take, right?

My good friend is catholic, and we talk about our services and stuff all the time. It's kind of fun, really, to see the similarities and differences.
From what I understand, you cradle Catholics take some classes before first communion and confirmation.
I'll bet it would be interesting to see the difference, for many different reasons.

RCIA=rite of christian initiation and as far as I know it's one year. But yes, new converts have to take it.

I remember taking classes before confirmation, but I bet they're nothing like the intense classes they give in RCIA, and, as a kid it's different, you know?

Exactly. The perceptions you had as a child, and the complexity of the things they teach you are so different from learning as an adult. Not to mention the difference in thinking since then.
