Yahoo Inc. said it is planning to shut down several "underperforming" and "non-core" Web properties, including the venerable search site AltaVista, as it continues a years-long turnaround effort.

Sites that could be affected by the moves include Delicious, a so-called social bookmarking service, search site AlltheWeb, and online news aggregator

I am just baffled as to how Delicious is "underperforming". It seemed to me like a really popular service, so I would have thought they'd try to focus on it more instead of shutting it down.

It did to me, too! Though most of my Internet usage is distorted by the fandom bubble... still, I see it linked to frequently. Maybe people just aren't clicking through the ads or something?

I suppose the fandom bubble might be skewing our perspective, but it does still seem odd.

I certainly understand wanting to get some feedback. It's like "hey, did you notice this thing over here, I did that...comments?"

It's seriously my main source of fanfiction. And it makes it so easy to find high-quality stuff from places where I would not otherwise be looking!

Hah, that's good. :) I should, doubtless, be better about commenting on fanfic.
