My Day.
I didn't get up to much today. Just stayed at home, played a ton of Command And Conquer:Red Alert 3, went shopping for dinner and some snacks for afterwards at my mates place where I was going to go to play some games and generally catch up.
We played about two hours of Red Alert 3, focusing on some of the more fun maps like Magmageddon which is a really weird and winding map, we stomped most of the enemy forces down pretty fast(playing as only infantry against four easy bots to add to the challenge) and then decided to leave the last two enemies alone for about ten-fifteen minutes to see what they did while we only worked on defence. The AI were dumb as hell and basically just sent ground units up against my defences(laser defence grids are awesome!) non-stop while we ransacked every resource on the map and built up huge infantry armies to storm their bases with.
Eventually we got bored with waiting and built some super-weapons and played around with the possibilities including a trick I came up with a few weeks ago where you first have three or so laser defence towers ready to build in the build queue, then teleport a command vehicle and some transport hovercraft(filled with engineers and Javelin soldiers(rocket guys)) into the enemy base using a Chronosphere and then get the Russian(I play as Allies, my mate plays as Russia and we randomise the enemies) to put an Iron Curtain over the vehicles once they arrive. Then set up the now invincible Command Vehicle and build the laser towers around the base while the engineers try to convert every building they can and the Javelin soldiers take out any planes or tanks and the invincible hovercraft take out any infantry.
The towers destroy are then used to destroy the local power stations, the engineers take over the enemy command vehicle so they can't build anything, if you're lucky they've also converted a barracks so you can now build even more engineers and start converting the entire base in just a few minutes.
Almost bloodless technique and it worked well against an easy enemy so we'll probably try it again some time soonish. We would have given it another shot against a harder enemy but the last game of the night I accidentally forgot to set my faction as Allied and ended up playing as Japan, which worked out pretty well for me because I am better playing as Japan than any other faction but it isn't as much fun tactically speaking. The Japanese in the game don't have the same strengths as the Allies and even though they're easier to play as they can be frustrating, mostly because they have no early game anti-aircraft units and their basic plane sucks in combat because it is designed for fighting infantry.

After that we played some Quake Live which I am surprisingly not-awful at. Not great by any measure. I got killed a hell of a lot of times. But after a while I got a decent flow going, started killing some people in decent times and using unconventional weapons to throw peoples strategies off(like a lightning gun or a plasma gun in an arena literally built for Rocket Combat). Then when I was done I drove home and didn't really have time to write the next entry in my serial so I'll skip it today and work on a short story for tomorrow.
YouTube Clip of the Day.
This has been floating around the internet for a few months now but I only saw it for the first time yesterday. I just keep watching it and laughing over and over again.
