I LOVE Roasted Beets mixed with other Root veggies like Carrots, turnips and sweet potatoes. Just cut into large chunks, toss them in some olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper and roast at 350-375 for about 45 minutes. Toss them after about 15-20 minutes so they cook evenly.

I also LOVE Cabbage...Raw or cooked. YUMMY.

I actually had a very bad experience with beets (probably pickled) in Kindergarten. The Mennonites that were the teachers at my day care had forced me to eat them against my will and I threw up all over them. I've been afraid to eat beets ever since :D

But I'm going to try them again!

I bet that must have been so much fun to clean up.....LOL Not laughing at your distress....but more at their instant Karma for force feeding you beets!

I have to second the roasting recommendation. Morgan didn't like beets until he tasted them roasted. It's different than boiled and pickled.

On a side note, my sister had a similar experience being force-fed zucchini. I hope enough time has passed that the association won't be as strong for you!

Currently I'm on a cabbage breakfast kick. LOL It's really good! My question is, is cabbage still nutritious if it's cooked in a saute pan in olive oil?

1. Beets: Used to eat beets whenever my grandmother would pickle eggs with them. I don't remember if I like them or not.

2. Cabbage: Lol. I'm Irish, German, Polish and Scottish. We know Cabbage.

3. Swiss chard: No idea what this is. Olive oil sounds good though.

4. Cinnamon: - Not fond of it. But at least I can now eat it without blowing chunks (Got really sick of Goldshlager once and couldn't stand the smell of cinnamon for about 4 years).

5. Pomegranate juice: - Mmm... Chinese apples they used to call them. No idea why.

6. Dried plums: I don't believe I've ever had one. But hey if Worf likes it... But how can wrapping it in ham be healthy?

7. Pumpkin seeds: - I love punkin' seeds!

8. Sardines: - Really? All this time I was eating something healthy? I love sardines!

How to eat: Open up the tin and get a fork.

9. Turmeric: - Probably the only person that has no idea what that is.

10. Frozen blueberries: - Mmmmmm blueberries.

11. Canned pumpkin: Can't say I've ever eaten it outside of pie but I'll keep it in mind ( ... )

1. Beets: I am cool with beets but no I don't eat them.
2. Cabbage: I am craving Cabbage severely recently. Not sure why. Very good with goddess dressing and black beans mixed in.
3. Swiss chard: Never eat it, tis true.
4. Cinnamon: It amazes me that we actually sell Cinnamon pills at Smile. They are very expensive and they are called Cinnamon force. Why not just eat the damn stuff?
5. Pomegranate juice: too expensive. I eat the fruit instead.
6. Dried plums: Prunes, I love the lemon flavor but they have a lot of calories.
7. Pumpkin seeds: Yum, never eat them.
8. Sardines: I am obsessed with sardines. I eat the olive oil kind onto of crackers with mustard aoli sauce.
9. Turmeric: Tumeric is a great addition to Tofu when you make scrambled tofu for breakfast. It is what makes the tofu yellow and look like eggs.
10. Frozen blueberries: I eat them fresh even if they are expensive.
11. Canned pumpkin: Yuck, I don't know this just seems gross to me.

Blueberries + apples + ginger = AWESOME, btw :D

I think the only prunes I've had are the ones that are in bottles of alcohol. I'll have to try some regular one :D
