When there was only three female roles in a play and one was only for two five minute pieces of stage time, one was the role of the grumpy mother and the last role was actually something of fun, there was going to be tears for sure once the roles had been announced.
Seven had gone for the role of the fun teenager, yet of course only one would win the role, the other six could either try out for the other two female roles which would be auditioned the day after, or they could work on stage crew, or they could simply do nothing.
Sibholm knew she would chose to do nothing if she didn't win the role of Elise and she didn't like that thought one bit because she knew she should still involve herself in any way possible...but she also knew that she wasn't mature enough to simply accept that a better person had been chosen for the role and she would spend every rehearsal and then performance with ripping apart the girls performance and jealously counting the ways she could have done it better in her own eyes.
So she had to get it, so she could make sure she could be apart of the team and also work positivly.
She had studied the role in all free lessons, during her recess and lunch, after school and before she went to bed. She knew the lines for her audition piece perfectly and more than half of the actual script. She had such a firm understanding of the character that she felt confident she would have to win it, simply because she hadn't known a character this well in any play she had been involved in yet. After all, she had only been involved in drama for the past year and a month...
The paper was placed up behing the glass door before school had started, before Sibholm had even reached school by the bus. She ran along to the drama faculty, ignoring the teasing call from Tom and Mitch by the canteen, finally something else other than flirting with the guys from her chem class was more important to her.
Yet, when she reached there and read the harsh black words against stark white paper she wished immediately she hadn't rushed there so fast.
Elise Tamaholm: Jessica Holmes.
Sibholm gazed at the four words for one more long moment before she turned away, tears already maring her cheeks and making her cheap mascara run, she hadn't been able to find her quality makeup that morning in her rush to get to school early. And now, for what? Bitter disappointment. She hurridly hid her face in her school diary, the pages tear stained as she finally pulled it away again, now not having to hide from the three cute guys who had walked past.
Sheesh. It was a stupid part anyway, she told herself firmly. And she didn't need it.
