The maenad plot of the 2nd book is pretty different from the show. And there's some things concerning Godric that are super different too (for example, in the book his name is Godfrey). So yeah, I'd definitely suggest you read the books! There are also a few awesome Eric moments in the book tha tyou might enjoy.

I wouldn't skip the second book, the mary-anne storyline is totally different, as is the fellowship of the sun thing.
Even the Godric storyline is different, he has a VERY different backstory, and even a different name(Godfrey, in my opinion he's better in the books)

The whole Tara/Eggs storyline doesn't exist.
So the storyline is a lot less annoying :D

The second book is extremely different from this season in terms of Maryanne (after all, the books are Sookie pov so we miss basically everything bon temps style) and Dallas is wildly more interesting.

I cannot believe we have to wait until 9/13 either! That seems so far away right now when I've been craving more since I finished last night's episode.
