State of the Blag

Your opinions wanted!I blog for three major reasons*. First and foremost, I write to entertain people. This goal has gotten somewhat obscured by recent life events, but I'm working on getting back to it. Secondly, writing (and speaking) helps me think. Finally, the blag allows me to keep in contact with distant friends

Being a fellow science geek, I love hearing about science stuff, your research, recent developments in biology you've heard about, etc. For example, I'd like to hear more about your thoughts on the ethics of the genetically modified embryo I told you about.

Also, I agree that progress doesn't move along within isolated issues. I wouldn't mind hearing more about that as well.

Speaking only for myself, I think the videos could be good as well. Like my cats, I get distracted by shiny things easily and often get distracted when reading lengthy pieces. So thumbs up to video from me. :)

Well, I was an aspiring neurobiologist, but then I ended up in a cell and molecular biology program. So generally I'm more of an aspiring molecular biologist these days.

Well, not necessarily. Sometimes (hah!) dissertations are boring to the general public. I'd go with a more pop-sci approach, if possible, or I'd talk about other people's research if I couldn't make mine interesting.

I know it's not helpful, but I'll read pretty much whatever you write! It's interesting to me to read how you think. So whatever topic in the news or science peeks your interest...

Science IS Sexy. Especially biological science.

But I enjoy reading nearly everything you write... You're a very good writer, and a lot of your topics are thought-provoking.

I'll chime in here and say that I'll read pretty much anything you write. That being said, I will toss in a vote for politics because I'm intrigued by your description of the nurturing family frame. And I love the idea of a podcast/video blog.
