I was supposed to go to the first football game of the season here at the University of Texas, but my department still hasn't paid my tuition. This means I could not print my ticket out. Dead basic personal safety is the primary reason why I avoid a lot of group activities that involve physical risk. I just don't think people understand the concept of "me, dead" in the context of reality well enough to avoid causing it.

But that doesn't even work, is the thing that frustrates me. I mean, someone could walk into a classroom and shoot you. Max practice TKD twice a week, could've gotten hurt doing that. Hell, her dad was in Jordan doing some kind of fraud investigation when it happened.

You just can't escape idiots. =/

Depends what the objective is... My objective isn't to avoid getting killed. Life's risky, that's fine by me. I could get hit by a car this afternoon, yet my primary objection to cars isn't that they could hit me, it's that they stink. My objective is to not get my stress level up due to having to dress down idiots over their irresponsible actions too often, and to avoid reasonably avoidable risks when doing so doesn't interfere with the rest of my interests.
