I finally got around to answering those "Top 5 fandom things" some of you asked me to complete a week or so ago. They are all answered in this one post, and have bonus pictures and youtube videos, so to say this is a longish post would be a bit of an understatement. Oh trust me, I had to force my fingers to keep far away from the capslock button, and even then it didn't completely work. And UNIT was one of the main things that I could have gone completely capslock-happy on. THEY ARE JUST SO VERY AWESOME!!!

Oh believe me, it wasn't easy. Narrowing my favourite JD songs down to 5 was particularly difficult (well, the first four were pretty easy, but there were several contenders for fifth position).

All I see when I look at that first caps is Simm's neck, and I tend to lose focus slightly ;p Thank God for Sam's penchant for unbuttoning the top few buttons of his shirts.

As for the Pixies, that's awesome. It's not made of fail that you had it saved under Muse, my flatmate had it listed as Placebo for ages, and when I saw it on her computer, I said "Um, you know that's the Pixies, right?" It must just be one of those songs that no one is fully sure who it is sung by.

The only reason I knew it was by the Pixies is because the first place I heard it was in Fight Club, and I watched until the end of the credits to find out who had sung it.

Imagine if you were driving along, and you saw a giant billboard with that stretch of neck on it? It would be more distracting than those "want longer lasting SEX?" billboards from a few years back.

Really, if it wasn't for Shaun of the Dead introducing me to Spaced, I don't think I would be in over half of the fandoms that I am in now. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright really have a lot to answer for.

I am so glad that I happened to get random free tickets to a preview screening of Shaun of the Dead all those years ago. I went to a free event promoting a street in San Jose and you could get random free things at each place (snacks, etc.) Metro Newspapers had an office there, and they had free preview screening tickets to various films. My parents got some other movie, and I got Shaun of the Dead because it sounded interesting. :)

I saw a review of Shaun when it first came out but never got around to seeing it in a theatre, which I immediately regretted when I saw it on DVD for the first time, because it was just fantastic. And the path to all of my British fandoms started there.
