So, that was... okay, I guess. I don't know if it's just because I've had a shit day and feel lousy (which is pretty much the reason there is no picspam this week), but overall it just left me feeling underwhelmed.

LOL I just posted about how much I liked this episode. Personally the return of Gene acting like LOM-Gene was one reason and I thought there actually being a plot that focused on a case rather than just shifting the policing aspect of the show to a subplot worked really well.

And the preview for next week??! I think Jackie's hair was more shocking than the coat but it looks like it'll be a great episode as long as there isn't too much gene/alex angst *yawn*

I think my mood when I watched it definitely had an impact on how I felt about it (seriously, it took an ad about The Chaser boys returning soon to pull me out of the funk I was in), so hopefully I like it a lot more after a re-watch. I did like the return to a more LoM-style Gene though.

As for next week, as long as Jackie's baby isn't Gene's (and he gets to keep the coat) I think I'll be happy.

Yeah, this episode didn't grab me either. Too little Gene. It wasn't bad; it was - like you said, blah. I am interested in what Gene will do since Supermac is threating him. He don't know him very well, do he? You don't threaten the Gene Genie.
I'm looking forward to next weeks ep. I always liked Jackie and felt that there was definitely more to her and Gene's backstory than just the newspaper article she wrote about him.
And yes, there can only be one "The Coat". But Gene's camel hair is a good runner up. I bet it smells just like Gene. The faint whiff of cigarettes, booze and Eau De Gene Hunt. Yummy.

I've yet to rewatch it in in a better state of mind, so I'm hoping that improves my attitude towards it, because I have to admit, I did like the return of Gene kicking in nonces (it's been too long). I too am interested as to how the Supermac and Gene storyline will pan out, but I have also heard something that would resolve it fairly quickily if it's true (if being the operative word).

Gene's coat is a good coat, but I think The Coat the coat's Coat. It is what every coat in the world aspires to be when it grows up. And as for next week's non-coat related issues, as long as Jackie's baby isn't Gene's I'll be happy.
