Glad to not disappoint you! I think there would have needed to be a massive plot twist in order for a happy ending to work, and I was kind of happy with it the way it was.

I don't know who to feel more sorry for, Gene or Sam.
Either way, they both need a big hug. Preferably from each other.

Brilliant ending,

I think the saddest part for me was Gene's inability to understand that Sam was possessed and not schizophrenic.

I also particularly like how the ending was left from Gene's perspective so we dont know for certain why Sam is catatonic.

(e.g. was he mentally exausted after fighting the master? was he focusing all his mental energy on keeping the master at bay? and of course was it Sam or the Master that escaped?).

Thanks! And I think Gene did understand, at the very end, what was going on but by then it was too late, Sam was too far gone. Which, IMHO, makes it even sadder because he was just too late. Anyway, thanks for reading it all, and I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
