After studying like a madman (about 19 hours this weekend) I played hooky today to take the written portion of my pilot exam. I did pretty well, scoring a 98% (you need 70% to pass). I got one wrong out of 60, which *should* be great, but the one I got wrong I had right, and CHANGED it right before I submitted the review! ARGH ( Read more... )

After many weather related false starts, I successfully soloed today! Yay!

The wind was fine when I arrived, but the tower had issues which delayed us for an hour. About 15 minutes after liftoff the wind picked up to over 8 knots of crosswind (I can't solo over 5 knots of crosswind) and then proceeded to be gusty and all over the compass. Grrrr ( Read more... )
