actually it seems like i know more people who have babies/are pregnant that i do married or engaged people. and of the people i do know that are married (from my high school), most of them don't have children yet. but yeah, it's still freaky.

But... they're too young! Do all these pregnancies, engagements, and marriages make you feel old, too? Because I'm starting to feel like an old maid.

yes! just this morning i was thinking about how when i was little, i thought that 24 was the perfect age to get married, but now it's like, man that's only like a year and a half away! i'm already a spinster at 22.

Man, why do people feel the need to pop out squealers? They're never going to have a good night's sleep again.

Let me add something else, if you'll allow, my friend.

To: people I knew in high school

Half of all marriages end in divorce.

So cut it out.

thanks,

Because if there's a chance you might fail, it's always better not to try at all.

(That statistic was actually made up, and the high number of divorces is also counting second and third marriages, which tend to have a higher failure rate than first marriages.)

I was not aware of that. But it makes sense that if you've chosen someone ill-suited for you up front, subsequent choices won't be any more successful.

My snarky comment was mainly directed towards my own insecurity---I'm nearly twenty-eight, and at least half the people who I went to high school with are now married.
