Remus and Sirius in the original Order, Remus-whump

Echoing my post from hp_ficsearchHi, I'm looking for a particular fic, and pretty much any fic like it, that focuses on the original Order prior to Halloween '81, and the effects of Peter sowing the seeds of doubt between the Order members, particularly between Remus and Sirius. In the fic I am thinking of, it deviates from canon when Remus ended up being

That description sounds just like the description of a fic I saw recc'd everywhere when I was first scouring the internet for fic, but never read:

Oh wait, I just skimmed to check something and I guess it can't be the one you mentioned because it doesn't deviate enough in canon to fit all your points-- but if you want a depressing fic in which Remus is captured by the Death Eaters and betrayed by his friends/they suspect him, you could read this. Warning: rape and torture.

I hope someone finds the fic you were talking about because now I'm curious too...

That fic is magnificent and heartbreaking and made me want to punch Sirius in the face. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

I'm considering writing a story similar to the one I'm looking for myself, and I'm beginning to suspect that I'm misremembering an old plotbunny of my own.

You are? Because I've been watching this thread obsessively since you posted since what you described pushes so many of my buttons. I've been wanting a story where people feel bad for suspecting Remus for ages now. He always lets them off the hook too easily.

Me too! They spend all this time thinking the worst of him and not trusting him even though he's always done so much for them. I'd like to see them actually deal with the repercussions (plus I have to admit I have a thing for stories where James and Lily live because I really liked them)

dontgiveahoot, looks like you'd have two readers right away if you did write that! <3 (But if you do write it, it would be even more awesome if it's S/R ship and not just friendship, although I'd read it either way)

One sequel to depths and heighths is Marauder Plots that gives background on Remus/sirius and has a happy ending with Sirius and the veil.
