BAI NOW!

It appears that my time in Exhibit B is over-- and much later than I ever expected. Gotta say that I was greatly surprised and, truly, honored to have made it into the final 8-ish; still hard to believe. My very sincere and humble thanks to everyone who made that possible at one point or another, for whatever reason they decided to do so (hopefully ( Read more... )

Oh hell no, no you don't! Now I'll never get to do an intersection with you. BOOOOO. (Though def still lulz over people thinking you were my alt.)

You had a rockin' run, your Blingee'd bomber pic was quite epic, and your Season 8 Weak Force flow chart remains, to this day, one of my all time favorite Idol entries, ever, out of anyone, and far and away THE best "I don't know what to write!" entry in the known universe.

You still suck though for not doing Season 9. Unless this is subterfuge to make us think you're not doing Season 9 when you really are. Then it's acceptable.

I have that S8 "Weak Force" flowchart entry saved in memories-- it's one of my all-time favorites too!

You know how you'll occasionally read the story of a one-hit wonder on Wikipedia, and discover that they were this suffering industry musician for like 15 years, and then by some fluke had a HUGE hit with one song that they never thought would be anything special, and for whatever reason could never replicate it thereafter despite still being good at music generally? That's kinda how I feel about that entry, because if my name (or my name then) ever comes up in LJI GR comments, it's usually you or sometimes someone else shouting out that particular entry, followed by someone else yet again saying "oh yeah I loved that one too!". This seems to happen about twice a year since I originally did that one.

I guess I'm glad I did something memorable, but I have no idea why it should be perceived as any more awesome than other stuff I've turned in (which includes a fair amount of multimedia-meta). I think the James Brown / "bridge" "screenplay" is my overall favorite thing I've ever done in LJI... save for maybe that time I issued a hip-hop ( ... )

Well shit! A’ight, I feel like a total dick now. One hit wonder - ouch, was definitely not intending to exile you to such an unfortunate category! It’s more that you created something that shattered the mold in such a spectacular way, it set the friggen standard for that particular genre (in this case, the classic “I don’t know what to write” post). It’s not a matter of one-hit-wonder, it’s a matter of you created a true classic that, two and a half seasons later, after countless good posts by countless good writers, is not only still memorable, but still stands out as *the* gold standard, and has truly earned its place among the ranks of immortal posts ( ... )

I really enjoyed reading your entries. If we lived in the same region, I'd ask if you'd like to collaborate musically sometime, since we are both musicians.

I will add you here and at your main journal.

Cheers.

Hey, thanks! I doubt I will be using this account at all going forward, and while I used to post at least once daily for many years, lossfound has been relatively quiet too. Once I add you in, don't feel obligated to hang around if it doesn't add anything to your life.

You probably would regret asking me to collaborate not long after doing so... :)

So long as your idea of collaboration doesn't include playing Nirvana, Journey, or variations on Chopsticks, I'm generally open to all musical projects.

As a person with multiple degrees and even a fairly long professorial stint in the world of music, I am quite broad in my musical interests. But I *was* 14 when "Smells Like Teen Spirit" hit, am fond of playing "Chopsticks" upside down and backwards at the piano while lying on the floor, and please do remind me to link you IMMEDIATELY to my ca. 2006 Phonepost cover of "Don't Stop Believin'" when I get back to the main journal.

(We're also covering that one in my cursed cover band, but that wasn't my idea, any more than any of the rest of the setlist was my idea. I will say that I have far more respect for Steve Perry than I used to!)

I was just thinking recently that in the time I've been in Idol you've pretty much self-eliminated from each round, up until now.

It's nice to have made it so far, and to have tried out so many different types of entries along the way. I'm still glad you did the McLJI thing, even if it was short-lived.

I'll miss seeing your entries. You have a pending friends' request from me at lossfound, though I hope you're not really planning to go mostly dormant!

Thanks a bunch for the add, yo. No obligation to stay if you don't like my stylings there, by the way. I don't take things like that personally.

mc_lji was a neat / fun idea and would have probably worked out better if I'd had a full-time home studio space, something I've been lacking since our fire three years back. I need my privacy to do stuff like that right, and I could just never find it, or at least enough of it, to get the entries / tunes to the level of quality that would have made me half-happy with them.

Congrats also on making it to the #7 spot. I really am sorry to see you go out but it's kind of cool to make it this far, innit?
