The UCU lecturers' union is protesting against Birmingham Metropolitan College acting like the "fashion police". Lecturers are being told to wear a "business suit; smart jacket and co-ordinating trousers or skirt; smart shirt/blouse/top and trousers or skirt; smart dress".

One more example of equating money with intelligence.

I live and work in Birmingham and I'd never even heard of 'Birmingham Metropolitan College'.

Looking at the website, it appears they're in the vocational-training market, so maybe that's why the fuss.
