As a young-ish new assistant prof, I keep getting asked if I'm a new grad student. I don't think I should care. But maybe I should spend more time on my hair and wear power suits instead of the usual professor-casual like everyone else? I currently have a big, old backpack with a zipper that decides spontaneously to be broken on some days, so I'm on the lookout for something more reliable, and perhaps a bit more "professorial."
