Well, as you may know, I was going to stop watching Heroes. This resolve lasted... well... one week. And, while it may have something to do with my diminished expectations, and while I remain glad I didn't see The Hard Part, Landslide did not suck!

spoilers ahoy! )

If Sylar snuffs him, I will cry.

Oh yes. I fear for Ando's life, especially after Daddy Sulu's lesson to Hiro on "you must be willing to give up your own heart" because Ando is totally Hiro's heart* - which lesson Hiro totally missed the point of, btw; did you see Sulu watching as Hiro ran off to find him?

Anyway. I found the beginning of the episode extremely stupid, by which I mean not dramatic at all. Here's (supposedly) what they've been angsting about and trying to prevent all season, and when it finally seemed to be happening, everyone just kind of...stood there. No one seemed to have a clue what was going on except Peter and Claire; HRG didn't bat an eye when his daughter pulled a gun out of her purse; and really it just dragged on too long. They should at least have been freaking out a little even if they couldn't think of anything useful to do ( ... )

Oh, God, yes. It was exactly how a previous ep's cliffhanger should not be resolved. "Onoes I's explodin! ...False alarm." Smooth, PTB. Real smooth.

Incidentally, wouldn't it have occurred to Claire that shooting an exploding man might actually be extremely unwise? Has she forgotten the end of Company Man so quickly?

Matt.was.awesome.

And yeah, some plot points seemed a tad too convinient. I really worry for ep 23. Something tells me it'll be all sorts of anti-climactic. I want an episode of flaily awesome, like the cheerleader resolve ep or Five Years Gone AU.

Ando dying at times seems inevitable to me but I still don't like it. Hiro doesn't want to become future!Hiro, and he doesn't want to lose Ando, but there's so much hinting at him having to sacrifice *something* and that something being Ando and.. it's difficult. I hope that if it happens, it feels right. Otherwise I'll strangle Tim Kring or make him watch really bad anime or something.

Yeah, that's pretty much it... I was sad to see Eden go, for example, but if it had to happen then that's exactly the way, and while I was sad I wasn't really angry. Isaac's death was not, I think, nearly so well-handled. It just made me feel cheated, and Ando... well, they all deserve more than that. But especially Ando.

Oh, and Simone. That was officially the worst-handled "real" (ie not possible-future) death ever.

Actually, this episode made me like Candace less. It's hard to articulate, but...

Well, to start with, remember that thing about people's powers corresponding to their deepest desires? The one girl that apparently isn't pretty doesn't want anything more than a means of getting pretty? Ow. But that's only a very minor eyeroll. The main thing is this:

While she's absolutely right that the world is "sick", that attitude is very much opposed to all her previous characterization: Being an ideologue who wants to make things better and people kinder and merely feels that the ends justify the means wouldn't account for her previous joy in mindfuck, engaging in it even when (as with Isaac) it could cause actual damage to her cause, and seeking opportunities to do it more to Bennet. Whatever else Candace is, she is cruel, and we saw none of that in this ep. I understand and approve of the desire to make her more sympathetic, but not by simply discarding all her unappealing personality traits ( ... )

It's more than that though. Its not just her wanting to look good (though hey if you can change appearances why not make sure you do?) but about getting to be whoever you want to be - whether it is to stand out or blend in or whatever. She seemed like such a little girl in this ep for some odd reason. As though she was still stuck in he childhood mentality or maybe that's just me. I dunno.

Oh, I thought so too. But being infantilized like that is Not A Good Thing either.

(Also, the fattie eats all the time. Of course. ~eyeroll~ That would still be an offensive stereotype if she turned out to secretly be a guy. Or if she had openly been so all this time.)

Yeah I was a bit surprised with the turnaround from mindfucker to wanting to help heal the world but then I thought she can be whatever she wants to be. Maybe with Micah she is showing her real side or maybe not. Maybe that was all one big mindgame in itself. Or she's fond of kids. Or she has a split personality too -_-;;I doubt even TPTB would use the same gimmick twice. And, ( ... )

Oh god Mohinder just gets progressively more and more facepalm. I can see why a lot of people don't like him, just, GAH.

I personally loved the way Jessica turned the body over to Nikki when she was tempted - they're doing great shift work there.
