Chevron seven is locked and LeapGate is open for business. Sam and Rodney agree that some magic of science will allow the 'gate to be open much longer than the usual 38 minutes and you have until March 3rd to write comment!fic.

"The whippets are Monday, so we have to make sure we get to your place in time to see them."

Daniel blinked. "What?"

"The dog show," Vala explained patiently. "The whippets. They're my favorite."

At Daniel's continued blank look, Vala sighed and shifted her posture, folding her arms. "You haven't forgotten about our team night Monday, have you?"

It rang a bell.

"Ah," Daniel said. "Right. And Monday is..."

"Today is Friday. So you have three days to clean." Vala rolled her eyes and left Daniel's office, leaving him to wonder if there was anything else he'd forgotten recently. Like when Vala had started paying attention to dog breeding, for one.

It turned out that there was no major alien invasion or intergalactic crisis scheduled for Monday, so SG-1 crowded into Daniel's apartment (clean as it always was) right on schedule. Cam and Vala made judgments about the dogs, and Sam and Daniel laughed at them while Teal'c kept his opinion to himself

I'm a whippet person (in this intense and ridiculous way where I will cross the street to intercept someone walking a whippet, and this would be strange and creepy except that people who own whippets are also whippet people, so they get it; it's sort of like a shibboleth to start talking about your whippets to other whippet people, or so I find). I adore the idea that Vala would be, too. I have actually thought at times that it might be fun to name a whippet Qetesh. Hee!

And the whole scenario, the team watching the dog show and Vala talking about her dog--awww!!!!

beanpot is also a whippet person, apparently. ;-) I wish I knew more about dogs and breeding and stuff.

A dog named Cat. LOL. I love Vala had a dog and that they descended on Daniel's house to watch the dog show. Very funny.

You know, believe it or not, I showed dogs for something like 20 years! And they were sighthounds, which include whippets, so I had (still have actually) whippet friends, both human and canine.

Whippets would be the *perfect* dog for Vala. They just totally suit her.

Really? Obviously, you enjoyed it, or you wouldn't have done it so long. :-) I'm finding a lot of people with this connection to the dog show world that I never even knew about until late high school--and I certainly didn't know how huge of a thing it was until after that.

I'm kinda curious to go see a show now. *muses thoughtfully*

I love team fluff, too. It makes me so, so happy. The interaction between them all on the show is always so tense and surrounded by drama--I mean, there are all these lighthearted moments, but I love to see our team during downtime.
