She settled on the floor, brushing at her skirts. If the new voice over the telephones was lost and needed help...well, finding people was one of the things she was good at.
She closed her eyes and clasps her hands in front of her, concentrating on the sound of the man's voice.
Where are you...
It was harder than normal. Was it because she was almost certainly dead? But it seemed like that made it easier, not harder. Just the city itself? Was she out of practice?
A flash of red -
But then it was gone again. She frowned, and shoved all other thoughts out of her mind.
Where are you?
Red hair...
A gate....
Houses.
Everything was too blurry. She squinted, with her "eyes", but those were the only things she could make out. Reluctantly, she slid out of the vision, to find her head pounding. What was wrong with her powers?
Zack was surprised as much as he was concerned. The way that guy had been acting and sounding made it seem like he was really having a some trouble.
The question was why.
However, they didn't really have time to dwell on that. Regardless, one fact remained true: that guy needed help and they needed to find him ASAP.
At the sound of his name, he came to crouch next to the girl in concern, replying, ""Hey, you okay?" She'd mentioned that she had this ability, and since they really had not much more of a clue than a gate from Reno, it was anyone's guess. But, he'd been reluctant at the mention of it, mostly because of what Goten had mentioned about trying to fly when they first got here. And that other guy had said he couldn't use his powers at all. Zack hadn't talked to either of them about their "conditions" since they were suddenly all given a cryptic and vague looking map, so he wasn't sure if Mary would have fared better than either of them.
She rested her hands on her knees for a few moments, breathing heavily. Then she straightened and smiled at Zack. "It's harder here than it is back home,:" she said, trying to keep her voice bright. "But I'm afraid I didn't see much. There was a gate, and several houses....I think I saw the man - he has red hair..."
She shook her head, a little embarrassed. "But that's it. I'm sorry, I guess this might not work as well as I thought..."
"No, you did great!" he said quickly, not wanting her to dwell on it. "That's way more info than I could of gotten by myself." He pulled the base part of the communicator out, bringing up the map onto the now brightly lit screen. At first, Zack had been really happy to get anything, But, the longer he'd sat and looked at the image, the more annoyed he'd become. In fact, its vague ideas of places - some not even labeled, but still notably worth saying were there, anyway - and slightly apprehensive symbolic style was more frustrating than it was helpful. So they knew there was a gate, and some "residential" area, which probably meant a much more concentrated area of living quarters
