Kadaj had been infuriated. Even when his fun had been harmless, the enemy still had to go and ruin it ( ... )

Hearing her name, Nill's gaze slowly lifted from the water in the fountain, and over to the owner of the voice that had spoken it. Her blue eyes were still blank, as she stared over at him, and looked him over. He didn't seem all that intimidating, once she saw him in person. He was smaller than he had imagined him to be, and looked young. They were probably close to the same age, although everyone always thought she wasn't any older than nine or ten. She had no intentions of revealing her true age to anyone, not yet. She wasn't the brightest little thing, but she knew enough to be well aware that being a child in such a dangerous place was a good thing. It meant others would watch out for you. When you weren't busy feeding right into the hand of a dangerous individual, that is ( ... )

Kadaj ignored Nill, his footsteps steady and deliberate. He held a dislike for any blondes, thanks to Brother, and instead distracted himself with locating the building. It was still a little ways away, so for now he would have to act patient.

But he couldn't remain patient and carry on this sad act for very long.

He had already prepared for this. All of the supplies would be lying there, ready to be used on the girl--child? She did seem very young. It hardly mattered. Kadaj felt no remorse, even if he had avoided too many casualties in the past.

Feeling something pull on his sleeve--something that shouldn't have been there--he snapped out of his thoughts and whirled around, all his self-control invested on not instinctively beheading the offender with Souba. "What?" he hissed, tensing up but managing to fight off any reaction to recoil. He had yet to realize that Nill couldn't talk. After a moment, he managed to relax enough to ask her more calmly. He didn't want to give her reason to be scared, yet. "...I'm sorry," He apologized ( ... )

Taken off guard by the way he had reacted, Nill promptly recoiled her hand back to her own body and shrunk away. Taking three steps back, she stared over at him with wide eyes, until she gathered up the courage to attempt to question him. Her hands slowly moved to her neck, where they wrapped around the area. Opening her mouth, she shook her head while moving her lips as if she were speaking, hoping that he'd get the hint she couldn't speak.

Frowning deeply, she repeated the gesture for a bit longer before dropping her hands down to her sides. She just stood there for several prolonged moments, her earlier blank look back on her face. She needed his hand, and was afraid of reaching out to touch him, in case he would hiss at her again, but she needed to ask ( ... )

It didn't take long for Kadaj to discern her actions. She couldn't talk. Well. That probably worked to his advantage. She wouldn't scream, when Souba's blades stuck out of her chest...

At least now he understood why she had done that. Probably to catch his attention. It still wasn't acceptable, but now he wasn't as insulted... And, at least, his reaction had given her enough fear. Good. She should have been nervous. Kadaj wanted to sneer at her.

He had never predicted that she'd actually repeat it.

Physical contact, and... Shit. Now he was nervous. His eyes narrowed and hardened, trying his hardest to refrain from lashing out. Instead, he focused on what words she couldn't speak. "That's my name," he nearly purred, much unlike the wild look held in his eyes. Cocking his head to the side to hide that look, fingers curling over hers swiftly, as if there had never been any discomfort to begin with. He had to keep her trust for now.

So cute. She would make a wonderful demonstration.
