Spoilers: None, really.
Summary: Ianto is left abandoned in a forest, completely alone.
Authors Notes: I’m hoping to write 250 word fic for this prompt challenge at
redismycolour throughout January. Set in the same universe as
Winter,
Reunited and
Waiting.
Listen. The minstrels sing,
In the departed villages. The nightingale,
Dust in the buried wood, flies on the grains of her wings
And spells on the winds of the dead his winter's tale.
Excerpt from "A Winter's Tale".
by Dylan Thomas
Everything looked abandoned; unkempt and uncared for, overgrown with the remains of the harsh autumn and the cold and barren winter. It seemed impossible that anything known as spring would ever reach such a place.
Ianto had been walking alone for days now. He didn’t really know where he was heading to, or what had set him on this journey.
He’d been taken from the Hub, maybe a week earlier (he didn’t know anymore, the days and nights rolled into one now) and he’d been alone ever since those monsters had dropped him in the ditch at the edge of this forest. He didn’t know if or when he’d ever see anyone he’d known and loved ever again. He felt lost without the safety of communications and ammunitions; it was sad how much he’d come to rely on them, but he’d had no choice.
But for him to have been so heartlessly ripped from the Hub when he wasn’t expecting it, he thought was the cruellest blow of all. He didn’t know how they got past the multiple security methods in the Hub, or how they’d got past the rest of the Torchwood team, which made him worry for their safety, as well as his own.
For miles, the forest stretched; desolate trees, bereft of their leafy clothing, and all of a sudden, he heard footsteps. Then, just as he had been taken from the Hub, he was harshly removed from the belly of the forest, and taken to somewhere far more hellish.
