Who do you wanna be?

I rant about it every time I watch the mutiny arc, so we thought perhaps you guys would like to put your opinion forward. The subject? Who stayed loyal to Bill and Laura during the mutiny and who decided Zarek and Gaeta were a better ship to jump onto ( Read more... )

Dude!
Bill was collaborating with the Cylons! Gaeta couldn't handle going through that twice!
Baltar was on trial for collaborating!! Then BILL accepts them!!

Selix was disappointed because she was so anti cylon then her boss, and crush turn out to be cylons!

er... yes, I know all that. But does it make sense?

A lot of people thought Gaeta collaborated with the Cylons on NC. And yet, he proved in Collaborators that not everything was as it seemed (thanks to Jake the wonder dog!). You don't think Gaeta should have realised this when Bill began to work with the basestar? Given Bill the benefit of the doubt? Had sudden illusions of grandeur where he was the Admiral? Hoshi proves... something... Gaeta couldn't even convince his lover this was a good idea?

Seelix -- yes, they turned out to be Cylons. So, shouldn't she, of all people, have known there were obviously good and bad Cylons, just like there are good and bad people? This sort of inside knowledge of the Final Five's personalities shouldn't have convinced her Bill and Laura might have been correct in trusting them? After all, she wasn't living on some smelly freighter with only Playa's column in the Fleet newsletters to go by.

Seelix was too simple minded... Like h.phobic types, they find out their best friend is gay and they immediately condemn them...
I could see seelix killing herself if she had ended up as a CYLON!

Gaeta went nuts after being shot by a Cylon...
But I think it was in his nature to try to find a "savior"??
He thought Zarek could fix things:(
And everyone was delusional after earth 1.0:(
And Dee killing herself...
It all makes sense in my head:)

I do sometimes think Bill should have cut off Gaetas other leg (too much game of thrones in my head!)
And kept him in the brig for his expertise!

Obv it's best I don't watch/read Game of Thrones... Ick. I keep thinking about Boxing Helena now. Chop off his arms as well and we'll call it Boxing Gaeta... Which is different from Boxing D'Anna... but... Okay, obv I've been too busy in rl and I'm going insane...

Oh no, I'm loving the books! (Audio books)
I'm on the feast for crows... But yea, people getting killed (main characters!!!) left and right! People get poisoned, hands get chopped off...
A little bit of sex.

Seriously, I have issues with anything post-children that's like that. I'm so weak these days.

Gaeta always made sense to me.

Racetrack made no sense to me at all, and Seelix didn't either. I think both absolutely would have remained loyal, and it irritated me that after several seasons of quietly appreciating both characters they suddenly pulled an asshat move out of nowhere with no explanation.

To me it's almost like they threw the characters' names in a bag and drew them out. I understand that they needed some familiar faces to add to the drama, and granted, the mutiny arc is wonderful drama and prob my favourite of all the 'arcs', but if I had to bitch about something in it, the character choice would be it for me.

I'm actually pretty horrible at retaining side characters, though I've gotten a lot better with the re-watches ( ... )

I've never thought about the Tigh thing, but you're probably right. He was probably the catalyst for the entire thing. However, I still maintain that characters NOT on Galactica would have been the ones to rebel/mutiny. They were the ones not privy to all the inside information about Saul etc ( ... )

I too have my doubts about Gaeta. I just can't see him going against Adama like that. But the total mental breakdown explains a lot of course.

Baltar, no he doesn't fit on Zareks side either. Baltar is always on Baltars side, and that may mean it looks like he's siding somewhere, but in the end it's always about Gaius. I actually sort of respect that in a weird way. I do think somewhere deep inside he feels a sense of loyalty to Laura.

And even sillier question, where was Figurski!?

Seriously, I ask myself these questions all the time. What happend to him? What happened to her? Sergeant Hadrian i.e. I really wonder what happened to her, was she on NC? After Litmus you never hear from her again, I thought she was an interesting character.

Yeah, I've hardly ever watched the last scene of BOTS, but the more I think about it, the more it's obvious that he's INSANE. So, it's difficult to say whether the point is the mutiny, and its subsequent failure, caused his madness, or whether RDM was saying he was mad before it.

Good point about Baltar. Blah. I still can't believe he's busy frakking a Six when everything goes to hell. Ick.

Figurski! LOL! Hadrian (or was it Haridan... damn, too lazy to look up) was thrown into the brig for daring to interrupt phone secksing between the Admiral and the President. Trufax.

We need to do that as a discussion. Where's Boxy? Where's Wally?

I had to look it up in the bsg wiki. Aparently Tigh mentions in Valley of Darkness that Sergeant Hadrian is leading one of the squads of Marines defending the ship. That's the only thing we've heard from her since.

Valley of Darkness... Mmm... I've never noticed, I admit.

The Marines in general are really confusing in the mutiny. You'd think that quite a few would be loyal to Laura at least, considering they'd been used as secret service type agents. And yet, I *think* we are meant to believe that nearly all of them were on Zarek's side. Again, makes no sense.
