Bill's 'about time' to me means that he had already told her that he loved her, and was waiting to hear it from her. I don't think that Laura was ready to vocalize her love for him until the events of The Hub.

I agree with defyingnormalcy... I think Bill had already told her he loved her. It's the only way I can make sense of his "about time" response.

As for the ring question, the whole idea of waiting till she's dead is just so upsetting (even though that is what happens) that I can barely bring myself to comment. The most optimistic explanation is that she didn't think they needed to marry. The saddest is that she didn't want to because she knew he'd lose her too soon. *sobs*

I have never really accepted that the visions Laura had where of her own making. They harken very much to the actual final scenes in Daybreak, with Lee and Kara there before she goes, and then just Bill and the ring, and I wonder if perhaps they were more prescient, than dream like images

Watching frakcancer's great new vid, I was suddenly struck by something. Bill and Laura are both wearing glasses in scenes before the 'about time' but they're gone when it's time to be face to face.

'cause they both hoped/expected to kiss like bandits! But then he chicken out/went on Deep and Abiding love on her ass and she was too weak-kneed to argue with him about it and take what was rightly hers.

And I've always been firmly in the court that Bill's been telling her I love you for ages and that makes Laura just more nervous. Once you can't do something, you really can't, as anyone who's stood at the end of a diving board knows.

OH, and my icon reminds me, his "missed you" line just KILLS. It's so, "Yeah, I was just hangin' out in space, 'cause like, I missed you, honey."

Damn, did I ever write that fic that fills in Laura's thoughts as she goes to meet him on the hangar? (I can't even remember my fics, let alone anyone else's.)

Of course you do know I'm not talking "can I keep it up/will I gag" type performance anxiety but "can I maintain the proper balance between leading the government/military and sleeping with this person" type performance anxiety. AKA "we have certain responsibilities."
