This wasn't one of the spectacular ones though. It felt a bit dry and salty, not the most palatable ByakuyaHisana. Well... for me at least.
It didn't seem to have the right ratios of 'I'm not worthy', guilt and fated love.
Writing is good as usual it just didn't incite a response from me so much. (Though I did like how either Jyuushiro or Kyoraku konsoh-ed Rukia and Hisana)

I think I was aiming too much for the "quiet"ness of it that I may have bypassed some other elements. And about the ratio of things, did I have too much or too little?

I just say what I think, which occassionally means chewing someone out or just not saying anything because it wasn't remarkable. (Or I was too lazy, there's always that)
That makes you the third person on LJ to have said something about my reviews and their anticipation/fear of it.

You had a bit too much 'I'm not worthy' and guilt for my tastes. However, I like my ByaHisana slightly sweet. You could tone down the 'I'm not worthy' part and the guilt bit would still be fine.
Quietness suits the piece though, you just mishandled the amounts of emotion you put into it.

XD. It's fine. It's good to hear honest opinion, and it's not as if you're dropping flames or anything. And really, I think it's usually a good sign when people bother to review at all.

Hm. I think the reason I wrote it like this was because I found this pairing to be one that centered around guilt. And from that they find some way to love each other, so the heavy focus on the "i'm not worthy" and suches was intentional, although maybe I put a little too much? XD I don't know.

This story is truly breathtaking. Their relationship is one that fascinates me (I've written about it myself), and this interpretation of that relationship is the most beautiful and heartbreaking I've ever seen. Your Hisana is both strong and weak, manipulative and nakedly honest, loving while seeming emotionless. What a brilliant creation! And the Byakuya in this story is exactly as he is in canon, but with so many more layers to his backstory and a far richer inner life. The two of them are amazing, as is your subtle writing. I'm very happy this story was recced to me.

Well,your story is shiny!
It was recced by a friend who knows I love the pairing. As for my stories, both were written for challenges, and can be found at my website, Chez Shay, here and here. The first one is Byakuya/Hisana, but also has a bit of Byakuya/Kaien. What can I say? I'm a slasher, mostly.
And by the way, the relationship between Kuchikis and Shibas in your story is fascinating. Is the Shiba clan being stripped of rank canon?
