Growing up half way between Ohio State University and the University of Michigan, I understand rivalries. I get it. I had friends who wouldn't date fans of the other team, who wouldn't speak to other fans for a week prior to and after the "big game", who wouldn't speak to me because I did not understand what the big deal was. And I am frustrated by the message of hate both parties generate. I read this article about how house members are less centrist than ever because people are creating red and blue neighborhoods becuase they all want to be around people like them, then to keep their job and accurately represent their constituents they can't all work together. What the crap.

I am unbendingly liberal, and I'm glad you put this out there. Since my favorite source of news is the New York Times, I get to be fed a lot of liberal-slanted news that feeds how negatively I view the McCain-Palin ticket. But you're right, and the important part here is finding objective sources that will quash the "my side/their side" feel in favor of a clear, concise, informative look at who is bringing what to the table. So lately, I've been utilizing BBC World News as well as The Economist. Our election is big news--but these things should be far more carefully handled.
