stefan wants to eat (and crawl)

Stefan was incensed yesterday at my mother's house that we wouldn't feed him. He really wanted to be at the table and holding utensils. I haven't given him any food yet, though, because he still can't sit unassisted and I know that is one of the signs. Plus, the whole food allergy thing. It doesn't look like we'll make it much past six months with ( Read more... )

Wow...another similarity. Maisie can't get enough food!
I'm heaps more relaxed about food than I was with Lily, too. Bad mother :)

I probably won't be as anxious about spacing things out as I was with Niels. I won't give him yogurt before a year though!

It seems a lot easier this time. I try something if I feel she might be ready and if she reacts, I leave it a few weeks (or months, if I forget :) and try again. Maisie can have most things without reacting. Even a tiny amount of onion and garlic. And she has small amounts of pepper if she shares our food, with no obvious problems..

I let Maisie have yogurt, but not much and not often. But of course, we haven't had any dairy problems before : )

We made it to 6 months and she hates mushy pureed food but I'm not ready for her to have chunks yet. So we reached a compromise... she feeds herself with the spoon (well - I control the spoon but she puts it in her mouth! LOL! - its a riot... I never thought my 6 month old could feed herself! LOL!) Add me to the bad mum's club... LOL! If we're eating it she can try it in singles (ie one food we're having!) :)

I think Stefan is defintely going to want to be in control of the spoon too. :)

He's got the legs moving but then he just pushes his face down onto the floor and cries. I tried showing him how it works but I don't think it helped.

Heh, Dashiell does the same, though without the crying part. He used to just kind of tip over and face/chest-plant. Plus he has found his own way of moving, it's a kind of butterfly crawl across the carpet, and as such really negates the need for him to properly move his arms in the way required for crawling. At least he's gone from not moving his legs, to scooting both together to moving them independently.

Stefan now does the butterfly crawl too: he pushes forwards with his legs, flops down a bit forward and then repositions his arms. I assume that's the same as you meant?

Independent leg movement is key to crawling, I suspect! :)
