Of course I just realized that this is wrong. It is September the second that is always a Monday as the train always leaves on September the first -- which I personally do not believe is always a Sunday. Guess I better figure out an edit! :-(
That is the beauty of writing in a magical world! Something doesn't make sense -- "it's magic!"
It's like Henslow, the Geoffrey Rush character in Shakespeare in Love, is always saying: "It's a mystery."
XD
This is really lovely--it turns a bunch of expectations on their heads.
And can you imagine the students trying to figure THAT out? Heck, Harry isn't even aware of ANY of his professors' main squeezes, aside from Hagrid and Madame Maxime!
(And I love that the age with which Luna identifies herself as feeling 14-and-a-half. Either she--like me--felt particularly out of control at that age, or she's simply remembering that that was her age during OotP, and therefor the first time when she was able to walk into the Great Hall with loved ones friends. Or both.)
Did you notice my mistake and my fix. I could not really rework it enough to deal with all the ramifications... ok is this breakfast... did they miss the sorting? (That would be about right I think.) But it bugged me enough once I realized my mistake that I had to change it. Silly.

I sort of liked the idea of Luna having a "scientific" explanation though. Maybe magic is just science we Muggles don't yet grasp!
