Ashley and Kaidan; Action; Beneath the Mistletoe

[So Ashley had managed to explore almost every bit of their office building by now, with all the extra couch cushions and homely necessities having been moved to their 'main' floor. Still, there were quite a few rooms on the other floors that she and Malik had overlooked or left alone when they had first moved in, mostly because they'd mutually decided certain things would never be needed.

Like office supplies. Ashley slammed another door shut, pulling open the next one and rifling through the items within. Stranded in a dead city with a strange sense of humor and no sources of heat, with a food supply that was steadily dwindling, and she had reasonably decided that a good supply of paper would be the least of their worries.

This next door gets slammed shut as well, and Ashley moves onto the next desk.] Found anything? [She calls to her partner in crime, working at breaking the shabby lock that kept the heavy bottom drawers closed.] You'd think scissors would be pretty standard ( ... )

[So far, Kaidan's managed to have about as much luck as Ash on the scissors finding front. He opens yet another drawer and is faced with the picture of a pair of scissors, a ':D' face printed out next to it. He starts at it for a second, before holding it out for Ash to see] I don't think this place has an concept of 'standard'.

[She stares across the office at that picture, then abruptly turns away, shaking her head.] I'd feel a lot better about this place if I didn't get the distinct feeling somebody is just fucking around with us.

[And another door is slammed shut ;D Funny how every drawer seems to be getting progressively louder in volume, on Ash's end. Straightening from the desk, Ash pauses, eyes alighting on an open door not to far to her left.

She could see large, dark machines just inside. And if memory served right-- extra office supplies were in there too. A copy and supply room. Maybe, just maybe--] Hey, hang on a sec. [And she moves across the room, slipping through that doorway.

Or... trying to. Abruptly her feet stop moving just beneath the threshold, and Ashley pauses, throwing out her arms.] What the hell? [...Forcefield?]

You and me both.

[His lips quirk slightly at that slam, noting that it's louder than the last one - which in turn had been louder than the one before it. He continues his own search, quietly, right up until he hears her exclamation. His reaction is instant, head and body jerking over in her direction, biotics flaring at his fingertips.

...For no apparent reason. They dissipate] You okay?

Ashley and Finnick; Action; More Mistletoe

[Ashley was doing her best to stay away from the caroling snowman. They seemed harmless enough, but so had the tree, more or less, and look how that had turned out. She's about to duck into one of the small cafe stores to see if she could find more rock salt when she pauses, spotting someone else just leaving the doorway.]

[He's gathering supplies, finding food for his little pack of Panem citizens. They had enough, last he checked--right before he left the building, to be honest--but he's learned a lot from being a tribute.

There is no such thing as "enough".

He bites into an apple, smiling to himself as he walks out of the store when he spots her.] Good evening.

Evening. [She nods to him, then nods towards the inside of the store.] Anything left in there, or should I save myself the trip?

[His smile brightens and grows. A lovely woman.

Finnick pulls the apple from his mouth, nodding back to the inside of the store.] Plenty. It seems that this place has yet to be scraped clean by the masses who tumble out of the morgue.

Ashley and Joker; Action; More... Mistletoe

[She appears behind him with all the quiet grace of an elephant-- that is to say, none. Ashley's never been one for subtle, and if she had been trying for surprise she probably shouldn't've slammed open the door.

Oh well. She's here now, and she leans over the back of the couch, dangling a small bag in front of her former pilot's face.] Hey, you. Merry Christmas.

[The lack of stealth is fine-no complaints here, really-but that doesn't stop him from being surprised when hey, sudden gift!]

Oh, goody. I've always wanted a plastic bag. [Okay, that was admittedly lame, but it doesn't stop him from taking the bag from Ashley, then glancing back up at her.]

It isn't coal, right?

Ashley and Altair; Action; All the Mistletoe Forever

[Ashley sat in a corner of the room, curled up on top of a few assorted stolen couch cushions. She had a book, and was getting quite a kick out of reading the old fashioned way-- minus an orange screen, that is-- and was snuggled quite comfortably under several layers of blankets.

She spots the shadow that flickers across the hallway, and calmly turns to the next page of her book.] You're not going to find it over there, [She calls, her voice amused. Malik had hidden Altair's robes today; even she wasn't quite sure where they were, but they never stayed in the same place twice.]

[ He swore to himself that she had noticed him- he must have been out of practice, or becoming clumsy because of this place. Whatever the reason that she had noticed him, Altaïr did not bother to try and disguise himself any longer. Stepping out to approach her. ]

You know where they are.

Tell me.

[Page flip.]

Nope.

[She looks up, locking gazes with him over the edge of her v. interesting book. You can't see her smirk behind the pages, but it's present in her eyes.] You gotta earn it first.

Ashley and Malik; Action; Fuck Yeah Snowmen

[It was funny how quickly they'd adapted to a partnership, out on the streets-- her at ground level, and Malik alternatively scouting the rooftops or occasionally dropping down to her level. This time Malik was focused on his maps, or the beginning of them, and Ashley mainly followed the route he told her to take, helping however she could. She trusted his hand with the pen, especially since if she herself tried to draw anything, she was pretty sure a varren's scratches might look more legible.

There seemed to be more and more snowman appearing around them, though. She tried to pay them no mind, but it was... chilling, the way they kept singing those tuneless carols. It was something out of a horror movie instead of a children's holiday special.] When we get back, remind me to show you how these songs are supposed to sound.

[Malik had the paper pressed down on a newspaper dispenser, drawing in some details with quick, clean lines. It wasn't particularly easy to draw on the go with one hand but he had done so many maps now the lines still came out fairly straight and clean, only a rough copy of what he would eventually finish and make for those he knew.

Ashley, obviously, being one of them. He was grateful she came, he didn't trust many so well that he could do his work and knew she'd watch his back. It was nice to be free of many of the dramas of those he knew- both Altaïrs were confusing and sometimes a headache, more so when they fought with each other. One Altaïr was plenty, two- he wasn't sure what to do with that, or if he should even bother trying to help foster some peace between them.

He drew a few more lines, looking around and remembering his views from the rooftop before glancing to her.] I suppose they are not supposed to sound as though an enemy is watching you when you sleep. [He says dryly, glancing at one of their snow golem friends in ( ... )

[Ashley would offer to help, but, again, varren scratches. Besides that, Malik seemed to have things well enough in hand, and she was caught up in watching the creepy snowmen.

Ashley, too, had her dramas she was avoiding. One was named Shepard-- a difficult person to approach, even if the big oaf was pretending like everything was normal between them. Who knew? Maybe in his head, it was. But she was pretty sure that even Shepard couldn't forgive her words on Horizon so easily.]

She knew she couldn't.]

Not quite. It's more like-- hark, the herald angels sing-- [And she cuts off, abruptly, as the caroling snowmen suddenly shut up in response, cold silence settling in on the street. Ashley shivers.] Okay, that is creepy. It's like they're listening.

[Malik pauses- he wasn't sure what he was expecting from her voice, the voice of a soldier, but it was pleasant. He would have commented on that, perhaps teased her a bit but the sudden silence made him pause as well, posture straightening. Something was not right.]

Perhaps they are jealous their own voices are far from pleasant. [Malik quipped, though his eyes stayed glued on their friends down the street. One started to move, then another, seemingly harmless but far too eerily silent for his tastes.] What are they doing?
