[There are probably people who have some philosophically deep and profound reason for walking outside in the snow, contemplating the meaning of life and the like. And while he does do those Serious Contemplations, for the moment he just wanted to walk around.]

[Ashley comes around the corner and stops, but it's too late. She can't really back off now without making it obvious that she's backing off, so she takes in a breath and continues walking towards him, resolutely.]

Hey, Shepard. Needed a breath of fresh, frozen air?

[His steps came to a halt when he hears that familiar voice, and he looks up to meet the owner. It wasn't like he was trying to avoid her, after all. He just didn't know how to approach her and figured he'd wait. If Ashley was ready, he knew she would find him, even if he was ever stupid enough to try to run.]
