There was certainly a touch of Christmas present in the city and Peggy had to stop to admire them for a few moments on her exploration of her new 'home.' Some of the lights that adorned the windows were unlike anything she had seen before and Peggy had come to learn about the difference in technology between her time in 1943 and the more modern era. The device that she had found herself with had been confusing to use at first but after she was showed how to work it, Peggy was a professional.

Despite the lights and the decorations, there wasn't any life around. Back home there would have been people around, shopping for presents, buying in food for Christmas dinner and carol singers standing outside shops, adding some extra sparkle to the Christmas experience. It was cold and empty here though, quiet and barren. That saddened Peggy a little.

As she walked down yet another empty street, Peggy huffed out a sigh and stopped, taking a look around. Still quiet.

Although the next street that Peggy reached was quiet, it wasn’t entirely empty. Guinevere was very far from her own time - centuries away from it, in fact - and was currently wrapped up in a cloak that she’d made from a curtain and a handmade skirt. (She’d been unsatisifed and rather embarrassed by the majority of clothing that she’d found in the abandoned shops of the city.) At the moment, she was balanced on her tiptoes at the edge of the park, gathering tinsels and baubles from the first Christmas tree that she’d reached.

The emptiness of the city was unsettling - even without traffic or modern technology, Camelot was far from quiet - but it seemed safe enough. As far as she could tell, there was no one around to hurt her.

She wondered, briefly, why their captors had gone to the trouble of decorating the city for a festival they showed no interest in celebrating. One of the baubles that she’d reached for slipped through her fingers, bouncing across the snow before coming to a halt against the curb.

Peggy was caught up in her own musings, not really noticing anything or anyone else around her. At that moment, she felt a little homesick, wishing that she could see her family again and spend time with them. It was a comfort having Steve and the others here. Seeing him again after thinking he was dead had lifted her spirits despite her worries about home.

A small clinking sound drew Peggy out of her thoughts, turning her head to look. Then she glanced down, catching sight of a small bauble that had rolled onto the ground. Peggy leaned down to pick it up, inspecting the object for a moment and looking at her reflection it in. She pocketed the bauble before she saw someone out of the corner of her eye. They were at what looked like a Christmas tree from this distance and Peggy assumed that's where the bauble came from.

She began to walk down the street towards the person and the tree, stopping a few feet away. "Excuse me," Peggy said, taking the bauble out of her coat pocket and held it aloft. "I think you dropped this."

"Oh, thank you!"

Gwen looked suitably sheepish and a little embarrassed when she turned to face the woman who had addressed her. Like the rest of the prisoners in the city, she was forced to resort to scavenging for food, clothes and other essentials. However, she was proud in a way that only a servant used to being looked down on because of her rank could be. (It was easier to think of it as something other than theft when you considered that there was no sign of any owners, but it was not easy.

"I thought they might brighten up the building where I'm staying,” she added, by way of explanation.

Helen had gone out early, looking for anything that she had missed on earlier days or any new areas that had opened. Given that they had managed to put jumpers on everyone, and ones that couldn't be removed, made her wonder if there was anything else that had appeared since.

The snowmen were new, although they could easily have been by anyone here. Although the woman standing by one of them made Helen smile.

"Gwen." Helen called to her, walking towards.

Gwen didn’t stop to take a look at the snowman standing in the shadows of a nearby building, but she did stop and turn at the sound of her name, giving Helen a warm and genuine smile of greeting. The woman had been very kind when she had arrived in the city. She would do her best to return the favour, if she could.

But not today. Gwen raised her hand to wave at Helen, but, before she could speak, and as soon as her back was turned, the snowman moved. Suddenly and swiftly and almost silently. It swallowed a startled Gwen - who let out a scream that was soon muffled by snow - whole.

That made Helen move and quickly. The snowmen may have been new but Helen had hardly expected this. A new form of abnormal, something distinct to this world? It was possible - they knew barely anything about Abax and this just amplified that knowledge.

She moved to her, reaching the snowman - and Gwen - just seconds later. She started on trying to clear it, although trying to keep enough distance at the same time in case whatever happened to Gwen happened to her also.

Gwen struggled with increasing terror, but, as soft and powdery as the snow was to her touch, she couldn’t pull herself free. Every time her desperately grasping fingers reached the surface, the same magic that had animated the snowman pulled her back in.

“… Helen?”

She coughed, spluttered but managed to get the words out somehow. She could hear her approach even though the snow. The last thing she wanted was for Helen to be trapped as well.

“Be careful!”
