A huge thank you to jewells68! When I mentioned I was combing the thrift stores for used books, Jewells promptly sent me this awesome assortment of young adult fiction and wonderfully sciencey books to stock my classroom library! I mean, wow! The best part...as soon as school's over, I'm bringin' these babies home and reading them ALL. (Not pictured is A ( Read more... )

I don't know about promptly... Not sure I ever saw THAT word connected with my name in the same sentence, lol. I hope they are read over and over again. That's what books are for, no? :) And now I have room on my shelves for other stuff, so that eventually I will be able to walk around my house without stubbing my toe on one thing or another, lol. I am so happy to see Hitchiker's Guide there! I was going to send you a set but I couldn't find my paperbacks.

As it gets warmer and warmer, I am starting to think it's time for something small and less "yarny" to work on myself. I think it's time to drag my DWSAL out of the bag and get back to it. I'm still on #3.

It's so SO nice to open that cabinet and see all those fabulous books. They will get plenty of use, again and again!

It's great to get back to DWSaL - and you're right, it's just right for summer months! One day we WILL have Doctor Who quilts to show for ourselves. :)

After finishing the embroidery project I did for Jen 's bday I reorganized my DWSAL bag and switched the hoop out with my qsnap that I got at the thrift store. I really liked using it. I'm planning to start doing mine again soon, too.

It's been a whirlwind since I got hired in January...I haven't been on LJ much either. I'm teaching middle school math and science; although some days I wonder WHY.

I hope your work lightens up a little...I know it's kind of feast or famine in your line of work.

I was telling Jewells that I can't wait to take these home over the summer. I think we'll have an informal Redwall summer camp at our house this summer. :)

YAY classroom updates!!! That's so awesome of Jewels to send you books. I know how much I love my little classroom library; it's the accumulation of about five years of hoarding. Not that my students use them! Oh heavens, woe betide anyone who actually checks a book out. But I'm ranting...

Your student messages are so sweet! You're definitely loved and appreciated, madam, and don't you forget it :D

Also: let us know what other types of books you might be interested in having! I've got some doubles of books, and I'm always combing the thrift shops, too. If I know what you're looking for, I might be able to help!

Rant anytime, any day, my dear. I feel myself slowly turning into Professor Snape, and NOT in a good way. Spite, malice, all kinds of emotions I've never before felt toward children. Hmmm.

But then, some of them go and write sweet messages on the board. Those messages came after they made their social studies teacher cry and refuse to teach 6th grade any more this year. Hmmm.

Any YA fiction is wonderful to add to the collection. Fantasy/scifi is their preferred mode of escapism at the moment. Which is great! Escape from yourselves, you little........!

Summer. Is. Coming.

I have a few books I'm going to send your way. I found some doubles in my classroom library, so hopefully they'll suit! I couldn't remember what age group you taught, so they may or may not be too high level. But let's be honest: your kids are probably on a higher reading level than mine, anyway *facepalms*
