Last year, I did something to my shoulder and it took months of light work in the gym, near daily use of the heating pad and LOTS of stretching to get it back into a shape that I could really work my shoulders again. I hope that yours does better.

Have you tried a deep tissue massage from a certified professional? I had difficulty with my right shoulder always wanting to hunch when I lifted. It turns out that it was locked after a biking accident over a year earlier. A couple of 90 minute massages where he concentrated on my shoulders, upper back, pecs, and biceps/triceps and that fixed it. It still get tighter more quickly than the left, so I'm conscious to keep stretching it.
Well so far so good; I've been very conscious to NOT do anything that I can even feel in my shoulder, resulting in (for example) readjusting grips with chest exercises (which have all been lower weight so far). My shoulder day, like I said, has been cut, and I'm hoping that this "cutting out" will be beneficial. If I don't feel better then I'll just have to cut more ...

I have started a three-day-a-week regimen for my rotator cuff, and so far so good, and my pain is nowhere near as bad as it has been ...
