Forgive me, but is there a Jew-specific usage of "minion" that I'm not familiar with??

It's me simply not proofing what I write -- it should be minyan, though in most circles "minion" and "minyan" sound nearly identical, hence the typo.

To do an activity like read right from the Torah scroll, you need 10 adult Jewish males in more orthodox Judaism.

Well, he is only the last _native_ Jew. There could be all these imported Jews for his minyan.
