10:20PM Central Afghan TimeWe got rocketed night before last - as usual, I slept through it - and tonight we had another ramp ceremony. That’s by far the easiest duty I totally hate being called for. This was in the news today. Pte. Robert Costall, with the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, was the soldier killed. He was 22. The paper said an American soldier also died.
This brings the number of Canadians killed in Afghanistan to 12. 11 Soldiers and 1 diplomat. It's a hard and dangerous place, and although we expect it, it's always difficult to hear of one of our own being killed.
My niece's husband is waiting to do a tour in Afghanistan this year, so this brings it even closer to home.

I believe eight Afghan soldiers were also killed. I watched footage of the ramp ceremony on my evening news ...

Stay safe. Our commentators say the fighting is getting fiercer, though of course their information may be wrong.
