Well, considering that just about every review has panned the movie, and it was only projected to make 30 million in its opening weekend, it is not very likely to get a sequel, AT ALL!
BUT YES, IT IS TOTES SHOCKING HOW SEXIST THE MOVIE IS, IT TOTALLY CAUGHT ME BY COMPLETE SURPRISE!
...after all the times I've criticized fans for screaming "OMG CHICKIFICATION!!! BAD! UNHOLY! EVIL!" over a female character being less than badass I can RELATE to those fans now.
Sort of.
The point of Katara's character is that while feminine and motherly, she's passionate. She wants to be given a chance to prove herself, she wants to help people, she doesn't take any sort of abuse or other bullshit lying down. The movie just...takes it away from her. I'm surprised they didn't just go for it and stuff in a plot point where she's captured by Firebenders and needs rescuing.
There is glee at that and his review. But I fear people will blame the Asian stuff (YOU KNOW WHAT THE GOT RID OF EVEN THE FUCKING CHINESE WRITING) instead of the shitty acting and storytelling.

And I thought Suki WAS going to be in the movie and she and the Kyoshi warriors were Sokka-stalkers. ;_;

Ebert did a good review that makes mention of the white-washing stuff and also tears it apart technically. T-rexcellent.
