My favorite AU right now is YYH Sex Switch (formally gender one till I realized I had the terms mixed up for what I actually wanted to do) in which Kurama's human form is a girl. I was going to follow strictly with the canon and explore how it'd be if Kurama's human form was a girl - but it kinda expanded beyond that. A lot.
Right now I'm attempting to write a fic where Shizuru, Keiko and Kurama bitch about how men suck but I can't seem to get it started.

Not long after Virgil gets his powers, his dad is killed in a gang fight. Sharon gets custody. Virgil searches for the guy who shot his dad for revenge and ultimately finds he can't kill him. Then he puts himself into the super hero business and pushes everything else aside in hopes that saving people will help ease the guilt he feels about his dad. At some point, Sharon and Richie are able to snap him out of it. For months, Virgil stops being static and is able to reconnect with life again.
On the anniversary of his dad's death, he visits his grave, and wonders if his dad would think he's making the right choice. He can't say for sure. But then he touches his mom's gravestone and realizes that it's in his blood to help people and then goes out and tries to balance his school life, social life and super hero life and also doing things for the right reasons - ones that aren't motivated by guilt, anger and a desire for revenge.

HAHAHA I HAVE BUILT UP A HIGH SCHOOL AU VERSE IN MY HEAD. HERE IS ONE BIT: Lithuania is a teacher - I think of lit don't remember, but I have it written down - and Russia, one of his students, takes a quick liking to him. And is a creepy stalker at him. Poland is a bit obvious, which is good because Lithuania doesn't want his boyfriend to get involved in this matter - until he walks in on Russia attacking Lithuania with his lips. And ah Leit isn't quite pushing him away as hard as he should.
IT IS BASICALLY A SOAP OPERA.

Mai runs off to meet with Zuko after Azula kills her dad and rises to leadership. She tried to get Ty Lee to come, but Ty Lee stays in order to distract Azula from the fact one of her ladies goes away (then Azula starts going insane).
Anyway, after a load of tracking, she's able to catch up with Iroh and Zuko and she and Zuko kinda pick up where they left off. She tells him what all Azula has been up to and asks him what he wants to do now - Iroh asks what honor is to Zuko before Zuko can answer.
After some brooding, Zuko and Mai and Iroh join the Avatar and then the gaang struggles to fight against Azula, who is way more powerful than the last firelord.
