Okay I hear this complaint all the time about Obama using a teleprompter on his speeches. Look, the man is the god damned president of the U.S. - do you really think he has time to memorize speeches that go on for over an hour? I bet you he spends what little free time he has with his daughters and wife.

The other day I was at the deli on the corner and the guy at the counter was complaining about how Obama spent sooo much money and was as bad as Bush and some lady said he was "gonna put us under".

I can get behind some of the Obama = Bush stuff when talking about foreign policy (I do not agree but I also don't think all the crits are without merit) but Obama's spending isn't going to put us under.

I'm not as up on the foreign policy thing, I've been thinking mostly about the financial situation (thx Soc. class!). What's Obama's policy exactly?

People sure act like it is, though. The counter guy even predicted America's gonna hit bottom within the next year. :/ I HATE when people talk like that.

That's a complicated question. It involves neo conservatism, colonialism and imperialism. His actions in Haiti are uncomfortable in the context of Haiti, US-Haiti, French-Haiti, and Western Rich Countries-Haiti history.

lol wut.

The complaint loses a lot of weight when delivered by Sarah Palin, who it turns out writes her notes down on her hands. Not on note cards in her hand, on the palm of her hand.

Seriously, I thought that The Daily Show had photo-shopped that at first, that's how crazy that is.

Well, you know, there are so many nuances to her boiler-plate decades old republican talking points, its hard to keep track of the core message behind it all.

Seriously, I got nothing.

It's not like she was reminding herself of details. She actually had to do hand-notes to remind herself what her principles are. That's just sad.

Don't all presidents and big-name politicians use teleprompters? And can I remind everyone that our last president was the guy who talked about "putting food on your family" and "nukyuler weapons," so let's not be picking on Obama for using a teleprompter, k?

I don't really care one way or the other, but doesn't EVERYONE use a teleprompter?

They do. It's an idiotic right-wing talking point.

Like Czars. Or socialism. Or 'Obamacare'. As soon as those phrases pop up, you know you can stop listening without fear of actually missing anything.

Every single president in history since they were invented has used a teleprompter. It's simply the argument neocons have latched onto to try and prove he's not a good speaker, because as many complaints as can be leveraged against Obama, the man knows how to talk.
