To "Have your cake and eat it too" is an old expression that in some ways means that you want to have it all - without compromise. Unfortunately, I want to do so without paying a fortune for overpriced proprietary hardware/software. If it were not for the fact that I need certain Windows only programs I'd likely switch completely to Linux - Ubuntu and its kin are just about the easiest to use O/S out there and free to boot.
