[He'd been quietly freaking out for a while now - Rose was dead, John was hurt, Dave and Jade were not themselves, and there was nothing he could do about any of it. Aside from moping in his room where no one could see, obviously.

He was so lost in his misery that the knock startled him. He berated himself internally - he was supposed to be on his guard, dammit - but Jade's voice shook the thoughts from his head.

He still wasn't sure what to make of her. The other duplicates or whatever the hell you were supposed to call them were clearly malicious and dangerous, but... Jade hadn't shown any sign of that. And the things she'd been saying to him...

Okay, no. Not going to think about it. He drew a deep breath and pulled up from his bed. Hopefully she'd just want to talk. If not, he'd be ready.]
