The sound of a page turning slowly, a bit of silence before a soft thud as the book closed. He really wasn't reading anyway. Words became too jumbled as silver eyes constantly looked over the top of the book. Really Ichiru had been assessing Cloud all day, watching him carefully - making sure the physical needs were met, food, water, rest.

Sliding the book onto the desk he rose from the chair to cross the room and sit next to the blond. A hand trailed through soft strands and down the smaller man's jawbone to gently hold his chin. Without a hint of uncertainty Ichiru placed a tender kiss on Cloud's forehead. "Your friends are coming to visit soon. How are you feeling?"

Cloud's expression stayed blank. He didn't even blink at the feel of Ichiru's hand on his face, or the touch of his lips. Maybe Cloud couldn't actually feel it?

It took several long seconds for him to reply. "No, they're not... Because Vincent will kill them."

Even though there was no physical response Ichiru did not pull away. Nearly three weeks had passed since the day Cloud simply walked out of the clinic, there was no way the teenager was giving up now. "Your friends will be safe with Vincent, your 'brothers' not so much."

Fingers combed through spiky hair, not in an attempt to make it behave but because it was a soothing motion. He asked once more: "How are you feeling Cloud?"

Cloud didn't respond to this either, expect that his body didn't have any of the solid balance that it usually did. Each touch caused Cloud's neck to bend, pliantly, as if he were part rag-doll.

Instead of answering the question, Cloud started to close his eyes. Several long moments later, he tensed up with a choking whimper and started shivering.

"Cloud!!!!" Ed burst into the room, face lit up with a grin. She threw herself at him engulfing him in a long limbed hug. "Cloud is back! Cloud is back! Ed wanted to have a party but...maybe there can still be a party! A welcome back party for Cloud! YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!"

Usually, even taken by surprise, Cloud would have had the balance to stay safely upright in a tackle-glomp. This time, his strength was completely overwhelmed by Ed's. Unless she took special precautions to keep them sitting up, Cloud had been thrown to the bed with a small wince.

He looked at her animated smile first with a blank expression, then slow comprehension, then shock.

"Ed...? Y-you're... alive?"

Ed rolled off him and sat up on the bed, her legs crossed and her smile still wide. "Yup! And so is Cloud! Is Cloud feeling better?"

"I thought... you..." Cloud didn't bother trying to sit up, it would have taken too much effort. Instead, he gave Ed a pained look.

"I thought I..." He choked on the rest of the sentence.

Thursday Afternoon: Fac2 Biodome taintdbysin January 30 2010, 03:52:34 UTC
Ichiru had planned a picnic, so he'd gathered food and even grabbed a couple of blankets to spread out of over the ground. It wasn't anything fancy, just some sandwiches and other finger foods spread out over the two blankets. He'd found some alcohol for those who wanted it, a single bottle so they didn't drink too much all at once, Ichiru had also managed to make a large pitcher of fruit juice.

The spot he'd picked was shaded from the artificial sunlight underneath a large tree. Both legs were tucked under him, shoes discarded in the typical Japanese fashion. Being careful not to disturb his position too much Ichiru reached for a grape. They were still waiting for the rest of their guests to arrive, but it didn't mean they couldn't enjoy some of the snacks.

Cloud lay on the blanket contentedly, with his head resting in Ichiru's lap and his hands folded over his stomach. The aches and pains of recovering from death were finally starting to abate. Even though he had no hope of lifting his sword or casting a spell, it was good to be able to walk short distances without tripping from exhaustion. Maybe he'd even make it through the entire picnic without nodding off.

Life was good.

After spending some actual quality time with Duzell after all the craziness, Ishtar seemed to be feeling better, and her ankle didn't bother her anymore thanks to the healing. She seemed eager to see the two boys as she made her way towards the biodome in the 2nd Facility. She was pretty close to it too so it didn't take her long to show up. She saw the boys from the distance and walked a bit faster to see them.

She was glad they were both okay, and they both look well, peaceful, comfortable. That air around her seemed nice. Though, knowing better than to walk around by herself, and the fact that Duzell was with her for the week, she somehow managed to get him to tag along too. She waved towards them as she approached.

Earlier that week Duzell had failed to protect Ishtar. He was more intent on killing those doctors than he was on protecting her. After realizing that she had gotten hurt, even though it was relatively minor, the vampire had promised himself to stay with her for the rest of the week, no matter what. Healing most of her wounds was the least he could do to make up for it. That and coming along on this picnic with her.

He had no need for food, since blood was the only thing that would quench his hunger. Duzell just intended to sit there quiet, to stay right next to Ishtar should anything else happened during this unpredictable week. So he followed her to the biodome, keeping next to her and nodding to Ichiru and Cloud in acknowledgment.

Friday Noontime: Back in the Room rufuself January 31 2010, 21:30:57 UTC
[Rufus is feeling somewhat better himself, having been well cared-for by Tseng. He does look a bit tired, but that's fairly normal for him after resurrection. Having secured permission to visit, he makes his way to Cloud's room and politely makes his way past Vincent to open the door and knock lightly.]

Hello there, Cloud--may I come in?

[Cloud laughs a little.]

Not if I have to get up to let you in!

Nah, I'm good. I got past all the watchdogs--mine and yours. I think I can open a door.

[Rufus comes in; he's neat and tidy, looks fairly well rested, though there are still dark circles under his eyes and he's got his hands in his pockets because he doesn't want anyone to see how they're shaking slightly.]

You look pretty good. I'm sorry I wasn't around when you awakened--Tseng wouldn't help me up.

[Cloud is lying on the bed on top of the covers in his uniform, one knee pointed up with the sole of his boot planted directly on the blanket, hands behind his head.]

Nah, don't worry about it. I wasn't exactly with it...

[With some effort, he scoots himself the short distance to the wall, leaving Rufus some space.]
