It felt strange, being called on like this. It had never happened before. Well, that wasn't true, he'd been called to social occasions as a cover, and a dozen times by Relena. But, this was less social and more....social.
What the difference was, Heero wasn't sure, but...He was glad. It had been something of a vacation, a pleasure to see Duo working in a pilots capacity again. It felt like a homecoming might, or as he imagined one would. solid ground. Surety of purpose. Everything that was lacking in this place. No more time for philosophy, Heero opened the door with no prelude of knocking, and shut it just as casually behind him. He was home.
Heero let him take the initiative, calmly watching as if from afar, remote from the proceedings. But with duo all but snuggled against him, Heero couldn't help the way his fingers stole out to wrap around the end of Duo's braid, his head turning to the side with the motion, towards his partner.
Duo's eyes sparkled as he leaned close to lick Heero's cheek. Just to see the reaction, honestly, because while it was nice to be comfortable it was also fun to push his buttons. There were so many. "Not. At. All. My excuses are logical and valid and just because you can't see it~ I know what I'm talking about."
He winked and rolled over again to stare at the ceiling, one hand tracing a pattern on Heero's side. "Least this week isn't so hard to survive. Makes me kinda worried for the future, though. Revenge an' all that. I mean, what'll they do? Bugs me that you never know."
Physically, Heero didn't react, only staring as unblinkingly as a stone statue at the ceiling in annoyed silence. He let the Duo talk and resisted the twitch that wanted to crawl it's way up the side of his face at the feel of drying saliva on his skin. Unhygenic and unexpected and somehow utterly Duo. Very briefly, Heero considered his options, then gave the braid a sharp warning tug.
"The future was never certain before," Heero intoned as 02 subsided against him, "You'll adapt fine."

"Excuses," he murmured softly.
