Well...this has been an emotional roller coaster. Once again, my political candidates all but scattered to the wind!

I would be mad, except...well, no, I'm definitely still mad! However, I honestly think maybe we don't deserve another chance if so many of us don't care enough about winningI'm not even a Democrat, and I feel like I've been stabbed ( Read more... )

Andrew, I'm sorry you're upset. Our country is in a really rough and confusing place right now. Everything has been in turmoil for about 3 years. Parties are changing, Americans are trying to decide what they really want. It is hard to sit back and watch not knowing what is going to happen. It is an intense battle of wills, a battle of ideologies. Middle ground has not been found, and who knows if it will! All we can do is ride it out, continue to participate and try to find common ground; try to remain sensible and understanding and open. I, for one, have faith that people are inherently good and it will work out, and we will come out a stronger nation for it. But we need to try to be patient <3

Yeah, I'm definitely of the mindset that people are inherently good, and they want others to be well...but it's getting harder and harder to see the proof. At least on a national political scale.

A friend told me recently, when empires fall, they don't just go away, they just sort of fade from power, and you know what? A lot of them seem to be doing okay. I feel like maybe that's a future to hope for as well.

It's necessary to keep in mind that it isn't good vs. evil; it's good vs. good but we all have different opinions on how to make sure that the greater good is achieved.

I personally don't want our political system to fundamentally change. Do I want the BS that has developed (ear-marks, back-room deals, etc) to go away? Yes, but I do believe our system was well set up. We will see where this goes...

It would be fantastic if things worked out, but I'm sure the Romans thought they were bettering the world as well, and would continue to do so for a lot longer than they did.

Good vs. good is all well and good, but eventually it becomes clear who is right and who is wrong, and when that happens, it takes a truly good person to realize he or she is wrong. That's why, if the Republicans REALLY DO fix a lot of things, I have no problem with voting for them in a couple of years, but I'm just not too hopeful of this happening, what with this country's track record with conservatism.
