[for Devon]

Alistair couldn't quite say he settled in yet, and doubted he'd ever would. He was very good at blocking the fact he wasn't too pleased about being ripped from where he was needed, however, and surrounded himself with a lot of the good points about being in this place. The fact he's been sleeping without nightmares was one good thing, for example. The fact this place seemed peaceful was another.

Then there was the endless food, the nice people, the fact no one knew who he was. Not having a title anymore had its' own charms, and it was a break he never thought he'd have after all that had happened. He did his best to enjoy things, which wasn't too hard. The place was nothing like Ferelden, and there was a lot to see.

The Compound was often busy and full of things Alistair had never seen before. It was because of that he tended to leave to explore more often than not, learning things he could understand first before tackling the ones he didn't. The beach was his destination for the day, with the weather so much warmer. He took his first steps into the water not long after he got there, digging his feet into the soft sand. It was his first time at an ocean beach ever, really, and it was an interesting experience.

That the weather was warm instead of below freezing certainly helped. He had enough of getting nearly frostbite on his feet for one month. Or ever, for that matter.
